People Join Neighbourhood Watch for many different reasons, whether improving safety around their home or becoming part of a community and meeting new people. It’s widely regarded that being part of Neighbourhood Watch can:
- Build community spirit and cohesion
- Improve the quality of life and the local environment
- Reduce/prevent local crime and disorder
- Reduce fear of crime
- Address issues relating to antisocial behaviour
- Create safer neighbourhoods
- Assist in the detection and apprehension of criminals through members supplying information to the police, such as doorbell and dash cam footage
